What I think;
At first, I was painting under the influence of my father who was a painter. At that time, I did not understand the world of realism which makes you face with the object. And I met calligraphy at my mid-20s, to the present.
I made my calligraphy works open to the public through the calligraphy circle “Bokujin-Kai” from the 1980’s. Also, not only the calligraphy works, but also the other art works like painting, as I could not forget paintings.
I also feel sympathy with the spirit of contemporary art. However, as the calligraphy is the traditional and profound art, it blows away such trivial thoughts, when you deeply pursue it.
I understand that I will be always like this, but there is an occasion that I come across something big in front of me. It is very difficult to express my feelings or thoughts through calligraphy, but I keep writing to pursue something which is attached to me at this very moment. Otherwise, the calligraphy will become just an old-fashioned art for me. Writing is thinking. I’m doing my art work like such an easy way right now.
